Sue Shugart, FACHE, serves as interim Chief Executive Officer at KershawHealth. She came to Camden in April after having served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, SC, since March 2015. From July-November 2018, she served as interim Chief Executive Officer for Saline Health System in Benton, AR. Sue has worked in hospital leadership roles for 23 years, having previously served as Chief Administrative Officer at Baptist Easley Hospital in Easley, SC, and as Chief Operating Officer for Clarendon Health System in Manning, SC. Her hospitals have provided her experience in public not-for-profit, private not-for-profit and investor-owned systems. Sue earned her bachelor’s degree from Furman University (Greenville, SC) and her master’s degree from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC). She is a Class of 2000 graduate of Leadership South Carolina.
Sue is board-certified in healthcare management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and served on the national Council of Regents as Regent representing South Carolina from 2014-2017. She is also a past president of the South Carolina Chapter of ACHE. In 2018 she received South Carolina ACHE’s Outstanding Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Award and ACHE’s Exemplary Service Award.
Sue is married to COL (retired) Steve Shugart, and they have five children and seven grandchildren.
